Course of Study
Because a majority of jobs now require some type of education after high school, all students need to complete a sequence of rigorous academic courses in math, lab sciences, English, social studies, and languages other than English to be competitive in the workplace. According to research, students who complete coursework at or above the Scholars Course of Study have more - and better - options after high school graduation. We have provided an outline of the course of study and a comparison with the basic Arizona requirements for high school graduation and entrance into the Arizona University System.

Science1 2 2 credits 3 credits lab science (one unit each in 3 of four areas: biology, chemistry, physics, Earth science) 3 credits including biology, chemistry and physics (physics preferred, physical lab science or Earth science accepted)3
Social Studies1 2 1/2 credits (US and Arizona government, world history/geography) 2 credits 3 credits (geography, world history, U.S. history, U.S. government/Civics, and economics)

"C" or better grades in Scholars courses
* - Arizona's universities also allow English, math, science, social studies, and LOTE (Language Other Than English) requirements to be filled by making specified scores on various assessment instruments.
